This past Friday afternoon MCLD was incredibly honored to host the New England Regional Chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designer’s Annual Garden Tour!  When Tour Chair, Joyce K. Williams, APLD, invited us to show off our work, we knew instantly which two gardens would be ready to shine for the annual event.

The gardens are located less than 5 minutes away from each other in a quiet, established neighborhood in Brookline.  Both properties boast spectacular mature trees that were likely sited by Frederick Law Olmsted himself—magnificent oaks, beeches, maples, and hemlocks surround the properties, creating dramatic scale for each of the gardens.

Approximately 30 people joined MCLD at the first property, and we began the tour at “Beech Ledge,” which was built by Gardenform Landscape Construction in 2012.  After exploring this property, we wandered to the “Warren Estate,” which was built by Robert Hanss Landscape Construction in 2011.  The two gardens offer diverse programs, and present an interesting contrast between traditional and contemporary landscape design.

This time of year is so incredibly crazy for everyone involved in landscape design and construction, so being able to take an afternoon with my team to explore some of our more recent built works was really indulgent.  Thanks so much to the APLD for inviting us to exhibit our work, as well as to our clients for being such wonderful patrons and giving us the opportunity to let our creativity shine though.  Last but not least, we want to send a huge thank you to the folks at The Garden Concierge, Pure Lawns, and CS Bailey for working so hard to maintain these two properties.  It takes a lot of effort and passion to care for these gardens, and we are grateful to you all for treating these spaces as though they were your own back yards!

Happy summer everyone!
