"Harriet's Garden" Featured in May/June Issue of Design New England!!
Most properties can’t easily pull off the combination of a bright red staircase and deck, aluminum walkways, and pitch black privacy screens—at least I didn’t think so before I met Harriet Finkelstein, a retired tax accountant with a phenomenal folk art collection that literally covers every wall of her newly renovated South End condo! Check out the 2012 May/June issue of Design New England, where writer Pamela Reynolds features our recent client’s home, garden, and collections in a piece titled “In Plain Sight.”
Harriet’s immediate desire was to create an environmentally-friendly, colorful, and easy to maintain space that physically and visually connected the interior of her home with the courtyard. The new garden had to be playful, yet elegant; contemporary but not uptight; and had to make excellent use of limited space. In short, Harriet asked me to “create a fabulous conversation piece” (her words) that would both invite her to relax and read a book, or allow her to host gatherings of 40 to 50 people at a time.
MCLD is preparing to launch many new website updates, and will be highlighting “Harriet’s Garden” along with several other newly-built projects in our “Gardens” section. To see some scouting shots from last fall, please check out “Harriet’s Garden” on our MCLD Facebook page… Congrats and thank-you to Harriet for sharing your home, garden, and special collections with New England and beyond! Also—congratulations to our friends at Elliot and Elliot Architecture for making the cover of the magazine with your incredible Maine project!
