A sunny summer cottage absorbs panoramas of Acadia National Park and the eastern bay of the Mount Desert Narrows in Downeast Maine.  A Texas couple with strong ties to the property wanted to celebrate life within the context of a national treasure.  They sought guidance to create new spaces and experiences to complement the stunning viewshed in the harsh climate.

Divided into two areas—a woodland garden, reminiscent of Maine’s woodland hillsides, and a waterside activity lawn with perennial garden for ocean and mountain gazing—the project transforms arrival sequences, configures the house for easy maintenance, and allows the owners to flourish in the dramatic setting.
