DAVIS SQUARE
SOMERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS
An urban garden in the heart of one of greater Boston’s most bustling neighborhoods provides awesome outdoor spaces for a modern, active family with pets to spread out and enjoy each other’s company. Moss and lichen covered slabs of granite form one edge of the garden, serving as a bench by day, and an overflow buffet space for alfresco dining by night. Western red cedar screens enclose the manganese brick dining terrace, where dappled shade from a carefully preserved pear tree provides a green, leafy ceiling to the garden. Carpets of fern surround high bush blueberry shrubs that produce fruit late into the summer. The garden erupt into a blaze of color in autumn.
