NORTHSHORE MEADOW HOUSE
WENHAM, MASSACHUSETTS
After years in urban London, a Northshore family grew homesick for their familiar rural New England surroundings, so they embarked on building their dream home. The Northshore Meadow House stands proudly upon a gently rolling site, surrounded by lush meadows and dense oak and maple woodlands that are typical of the area. A meandering gravel driveway lined with sugar maples leads through an old field where a new modern farmhouse anchors itself upon the land. A sculptural path built from oversized, rustic slabs of Dodlin Hill granite meanders through beds of colorful, multi-seasonal perennials that are almost always covered with pollinators. Gently rolling lawns provide wide-open space for kids and dogs to soak up all the great parts of country living. An exquisitely crafted reclaimed granite terrace surrounds the sun-drenched pool garden where a grand old pine tree stands watch. Every space on the property boasts sweeping bucolic views of different habitat conditions and wildlife patterns are visible and abundant. There’s something very special about walking around this property on a crisp fall afternoon—your lungs fill with sweet, earthy air and you feel alive.
