Charanya Rajan brings to MCLD a foundation in Architecture and years of multidisciplinary design experience across different regions of India. Her transition into Landscape Architecture was driven by a commitment to biodiversity enhancement and to creating habitats that support both human and more-than-human communities. At MCLD, she explores artistic representations of design while deepening her ecological understanding—knowledge that continues to shape and inform her practice.

Charanya holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, where her thesis exploring the agency of non-human animals in shaping landscapes earned her both a departmental award and a Merit Award from the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Her time at RISD deepened a lifelong devotion to the intersection of art and ecology, while awakening her to the rich, layered ecologies of New England.

Outside of work, she enjoys practicing South Indian classical dance and vocals, having trained in both art forms. At other times, she can be found sketching, exploring nature, or learning new languages. She envisions a future in which she seamlessly integrates theory and practice in Landscape Architecture, pursuing dual life goals: intellectual fulfillment through academics and the gratification of seeing her designs come to life in practice.
